No matter what his credentials, that column was a rant. His background tells us why. An Vietnam anti-war teenager with a Military father. Ya gotta rebel. Pat Conroy has built a whole Literary career by doing that type of thing.

Well, of course, it simply slipped my mind, Bill. I'll remember next time. The left does rants; the right does thoughtful, considerate, responsible posts. That does explain the use of the term "rants" in Paul's thread title. How silly of me to miss that.

So LBill,

Was there anything in that focused rant that was wrong or even inaccurate? Which part was false or inflammatory?

Seeing that list of non-successes might make some who dwell in paradise feel peckish as well.

I see where Secretary Powell is asking us not be fooled by Iraq's continual compliance. Just because Saddam is grinding up his missiles don't be lulled into thinking he is disarming! Did you see the pictures of the Iraqis grinding the missiles and giving the peace sign? The same peace sign that brought Nixon down.

ANd these missiles. They go 100 miles or something and that is too far. Exactly what is Saddam supposed to use to imminently attack us with anthrax and chemicals?

George Bush has succeeded in elevating Saddam in the world's eyes as the tyrant sits patiently in his nice grey suit agreeing to every request. He may be a monster and I know we would be better off with him and those of his ilk, but this Administration has repaired his image while it has damaged its own and that of America.

ANd what about the kids walking out on class today? Books not bombs. President Bush never was one for books. But he really has built a coalition. Thanks George.
