Many of 'em didn't even know what they were protesting- a high school kid who works for me came in today saying he and his friends went so they had an excuse to get out of school.

I seriously hope these guys were marked for an unexcused absence. Going to a protest isn't a reason to miss school (unless your school admins wish they were there too).

That sounds about right. During my senior year in high school, students walked out of classes supposedly to protest local budget cuts. Of course, the walkout turned into a fiasco because they failed to get a coherent message out. Everyone just wanted an excuse to skip class.

At least we made it onto the newspaper. I don't remember if the walkout accomplished anything more than that.
