Well........ the only way to fix that is to cut spending and/or raise taxes. Who is going to cut medicare/social security? Not before an election that is for sure.

Raising taxes in a poor economy sure didn't help in the 30's.

Dunno... I think oil has to come down and maybe we can pay off the debt with higher tax receipts from a better econ.

In any case.............. I'll bet the same thing happens that has happened in Calif. We aren't told how bad it is till after the election.

I think consumers were paying down credit card debt in December. That struck me as odd before Christmas. They might feel like they need to do that and will continue even if oil does come down. So.... we might have seen the best we're going to see from them.
