Thank you Steven. Your post is so filled with history, events and ideas that I've bookmarked this post for reference. One almost has to think about each paragraph here as a "stand-a-lone". Found myself thinking yes, no, possible, maybe, and yabut....on several issues.

Wonder if others have found the same thing.

Thanks for your excellent posts. They are certainly thought provoking!

"What do the people in the Philippines want to do about the terrorist situation? "...
I?ve thought of this a good deal, and I?m thinking of writing something on it, so you get a long answer. Good way of crystallizing my thoughts. There?s no easy answer.

Excellent post, Steven.

Thanks,

Terrific post Steven, not only have you outlined the problems in detail, but you've provided thoughtful solutions to a very complex issue. I hope we have policy wonks, with your level of knowledge giving recommendations to the administration.

Thanks for the food for thought...

Excellent post, I'll be the 5th to say. The concept of funding a competing system of madrassahs that preach non-violent Islam is excellent. The first problem would be getting the U.S. to fund such an "outside the box" idea; the second problem would be staffing, and the third would be protecting them from the inevitable attacks of the competition.
