I didn't realise the PLO had any significant Jewish support as early as 1976... I'd have thought the horrors of (e.g.) the '72 Olympics would have shown them enough about the means and ends of the PLO at that time, whatever its purported aims. But independent states, independently enforced and protected from one another (and any neighbour making unwanted or hostile moves), is the only and obvious solution. Anyone doubt that the US - well, the West <g> - has the power to do this? Aside from removing the cause of most terrorism, it'd win back most Arabs at a stroke. Protecting Jerusalem should play fairly well, too.
