US, Pak closing in on Bin Laden: Report

The United States and Pakistan believe they are closing in on al-Qaeda terrorist chief Osama bin Laden, ABC television said Thursday quoting intelligence officials.

The report said the two countries believe bin Laden to be in Pakistan's Baluchistan province, on the border with Iran and Afghanistan.

US and Pakistani officials hope to capture him soon, according to ABC, deeming that the arrest at the weekend of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed -- al-Qaeda's number-three man, considered to be the mastermind of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States -- greatly advanced the hunt.

"We're told something big could be brewing," an ABC reporter said.

The network also reported that CIA Director George Tenet met with Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf in Pakistan on Wednesday to congratulate him on Mohammed's capture.
