If lying is such a problem, why aren't there more prosecutions for perjury?

Because they're time consuming, not that easy to prove (maybe the guy just got confused, or forgot, how can you prove to the level of criminal prosecution, which is beyond a reasonable doubt, that he wasn't, even when you know he wasn't?),and basically the system has sort of gamed lying into it by now. It's sad, but many judges have just gotten to the point where they doubt all of the witnesses unless they have independent evidence. It it's a really big lie, or it's a really big case, or it's a really important person, the prosecutors might think it's worth it. Early in my career I took a couple of complaints to the local Prosecuting Attorney where I could prove flat out that people had lied on the stand, and his reaction was basically yawn, so?

Your point on evangelical journalists is theoretically perfect and pragmatically probably naive. Maybe in theory secular and sacred journalists should be indistinguishable. But that ain't the way the real world works. <g>

Doesn't look like Benny Hinn is going to be in the DC area any time soon. So unless you're willing to travel up to NYC or Pittsburgh to get converted by him, you'll have to settle for his web page.

I'm going to check out Benny Hinn. Never heard of him

You've probably seen him. He's the guy with the impossible hair.
