At the GOP convention the 80% white males in attendance were hidden from camera and the small group of minorities and women were paraded on-stage constantly. It's just a smoke and mirrors game. Powell is qualified, Rice is not as much. The real value of Powell and Rice for Bush is tokenism. Nothing wrong with a little tokenism but that's what it is. Not taking anything asway from Powell though, he's doing a good job, as good as he can with the chickenhawks in charge. Rice I think is doing a poor job, and she lied to Europe saying Saddam might next send missiles and attack Paris or Munich. Powell would never say such a bunch of BS. I went to a big GOP fundraiser once and it was 90% white guys in dark jackets and ties, white shirts, very short hair. They looked very similar to each other. Not a single minority member. Just a few women, all of whom looked like sorority sisters. This is the real GOP leadership. But they like to wear masks for public viewing. Any smart conservative black or Hispanic is promoted very quickly in the GOP. They need people of color badly to pull off their ruse. Clarence Thomas got in for that one reason. Otherwise he wasn't the sharpest candidate by any means. Probably the same with Estrada. I heard him on TV and he has a speech impediment and doesn't sound that sharp. Maybe I'm wrong. No prejudice there, just telling it like I sees it. Harold Ford and Bill Richardson are terrific though. Possible VB candidates for someone.
