As the dips dance at the UN, the prewar is on and it's going well. Several intelligence sources confirm that over the past few months, more U.S., British and Israeli commandos than ever have been operating inside Iraq. More important, their advance maneuvering is proving remarkably effective.

In much of Iraq outside Baghdad and Tikrit (Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein's hometown about 100 miles north of the capital), the special ops troops "are moving freely," says a senior Arab intelligence agent.

"In military terms, much of the country is ready to collapse. The [Iraqi] Army - the regular army, not the Republican Guard divisions - knows [the special forces] are there and are basically looking the other way. We're not sure what the guards will do, but the rest of them are doing a kind of Sgt. Schultz" - a reference to the "Hogan's Heroes" prison guard famous for saying, "I hear nothing, I see nothing" as the camp's Allied captives contrived to run the place. [cont'd....]
