I have always enjoyed messing with start-ups. You have to accept that most of them will do a "TU" on you, but the few that make it through the hoops sure as heck more than make up for the losers.

I have been looking for some time for a cheap play that would provide my gang with exposure to what I believe will be a huge oil and gas exploration period over the next few years and I believe I have found an acceptable risk/reward situation.

I like companies that have technology as well as market penetration "barriers to entry". Have a look at the web site of a little dickens called Mosaic Mapping (mosaicmapping.com). The web site provides details on what they are all about.

In a nutshell, the company provides airborne, gps-referenced, laser-scanned mapping services to both government organizations as well as the resource exploration corporations. It provides both the airborne services as well as the data massaging. It is growing like a bad weed (and consequently suffering from the associated cash flow problems that fast growth always creates for a junior), and is starting to land some very large clients.

Stock trades on the CDNX for peanuts and so far, has not appeared on any brokerage house radar screens. I have encouraged my clients to quietly squirrel a dollop or two of this stock away, where it will either become toilet tissue or provide a consequential multi-bagger within the year.

I expect the fact that the company is landing some large corporations will increase its profile with investors, but who knows for sure how long that will take. What I do like is that it enjoys solid margins and is close to cash-flow break-even (the most important milestone for ANY junior company) and is also being kept under surveillance by a couple of larger service companies as a possible acquisition.

Might be worth poking a stick at. (g)
