I agree. That applies to being wrong in either direction. Just because we may have been wrong to let Hitler simmer too long doesn't mean that preemption isn't wrong now. We all have a tendency to not want to make the same mistake twice. But overreaction to avoid that can cause a mistake in the other direction. Learning from history is a tricky business.
