<What will a free Iraq mean to the economies of the region?>
Nothing.

<What about the 5000 Iraqi children that die every month over and above pre-Gulf War mortality levels? Will their saved lives count as a victory?> No. The shock and awe bombing will take care of this.

<What about the issue of Palestine? Will the removal of Saddam speed the process? > No.

Actually, I am not after debating your position on benefits of war. I simply want to hear the expectations stated. For example, what does "free Iraq" mean? It will be under occupation for years. So I take it that you mean free from Saddam. If so, I accept that removal of Saddam is one factor in considering the war won. Clearly having him around in a year from now means a lost war. Similarly, I do not want to point out that relaxing sanctions and humanitarian aid will equally save those Iraqi children I only want to know how many of them should die or become orphans to justify the rest who will have better lives. Trust me, you will have no debates on the merits of your position from me. All I am after is a clear understanding of what the goals are so we can judge the success of this war. For example, how will we judge if removal of Saddam will solve the Palestinian issue? I am pretty sure it will have minimal effect.

Re: What will a free Iraq mean to the economies of the region ?

I read somewhere that Afghanistan becomes the largest opium export region again after the US liberation, can it be called prosperity ?
