i think you are right.

volume has been drying up for over a year. only real interest is short interest in the market.

I agree with your short selling comment.

I think it could be argued that if OBL is caught and Saddam
goes without a war or a short war, then the economy may pick up.

However, I am of the belief that we are in a prolonged bear market, that will trend down until at least 2005.

Having said that: like I say to the gold bugs, "who knows?
Anything can happen, bad news or good news."
I hate betting on news. (I did today though.)
I am working on market neutral approaches myself.

We get confirmation that it was one of OBL's sons that is caught...oh my god!

Doesn't he have like 47 sons or something like that. They probably caught the youngest one, I think he's around 3 yrs. old or so (and we've probably spent 25 million of CIA money to do that). Oh well, whatever it takes to prop the market.
