And what were the sizes of the other powers? For example what was the size of the US army then- and what is it now? That's the important question. What were the relative sizes of the various powers involved. If you look at it that way, there is no comparison. Saddam is a gnat, compared to us. But Hitler was not a gnat, compared to the powers around him- and we were too far away, and logistics for overseas wars were just a tad different then, now weren't they?
