rock,

re:It's just that now the U.S. is in the position to be the empire builder that gets to control the world's resouces, by force of war if necessary.

That's what really has France upset - they no longer matter in the world of empire building?

What does that mean?

Is Bush the super wealthy? I don't think so.
Gates is superwealthy, so is Warren Buffet and Paul Allen and Sumner Redstone. Do they want to control the world? And how is disarming Iraq helping Warren Buffet to control the world?

Please educate me.
Please tell me how "the world really works."

Actually, you are incorrect. This whole thing is going to have, and already has had, a negative effect on any plans the United States had to get oil from Iraq. If the war happens, and our military actually prevents Saddam from blowing up his own oil wells when his minions retreat, will you assume that the United States is taking the oil wells or the oil away from the people of Iraq? If that's your argument, it's incorrect.
