We will own the oil fields in the Middle East soon enough. Gas won't be 10 cents a gallon. They'll still charge at least 99 cents to make a decent profit.

Really, you could have fooled me. Ever been to Canada or Australia? I think what you described above better fits those two countries than ours. They are extremely friendly and considerate. The U.S. is a great place to make a living. You can make a killing here. Making a killing and morality and considerate behavior don't always go hand in hand. But, I've found the U.S. to be pretty far down the list of all of those factors that you listed, especially considerate.
