You don't remember it; I do. Reagan, as well as the rest of the nation, was caught off guard. And he was affected by this incident more than perhaps any other during his presidency. And he didn't pass the buck. He came on TV, addressed the nation, and said, "The Buck Stops Here". Something we didn't hear throughout the 90s.

You have to look at the totality of Reagan's presidency. In its totality, it was certainly American's finest hour during my lifetime.

I note you failed to address the original point, however, which is the total foreign policy collapses under liberal presidents of the last half of the century. That's okay; I can see why you might prefer not to get into those issues...
