The Democrats strongest hope in 2004 is John Edwards of North Carolina. He can carry the Northeast and West Coast Dem strongholds and will probably even carry a few Southern states, beging a Southerner himself. He also has a good shot at carrying the MidWest, since Midwesterns will probably warm up to a Southerner more easily than a Northeastern liberal.

Bush-Cheney are both right-wing Texans in the oil business. Why would they appeal to anyone outside the oil patch and deep south plus a few Rocky Mountain states? My point is Bush proved state residency doesn't matter.

Kerry will be running as a strong tough war hero liberal-moderate with honesty, tons of smarts and common sense. He will look better and talk better than Bush. His message will make powerful sense and Bush will have our country in tatters by then.

Kerry's running mate will be a moderate southerner if it isn't McCain. He will make sure that running mate can deliver one big state Bush won in 2000.

In 2000 the real difference wasn't Florida it was little tiny New Hampshire. That's all. And Gore carried no southern or Rocky Mountain states. If he had carried New Hampshire (easy for Kerry), Edward's North Carolina or Graham's Florida he would be President. And Kerry is a much stronger candidate than Gore. Gore lacked a certain inner confidence and people felt that. Plus, democrats were complacent then. This time they'll be angry, hard-working and determined.

Finally, Kerry has no real skeletons in his closet or scandals. He is dirt-free except for minutia. Bush has a lot of baggage. Tons of it Gore never even exposed. And in the end it will be about the Bush economy. By 2004 Bush will have run out of excuses and others to blame.
