McData Corp. (Nasdaq: MCDTA - message board) has software acquisitions firmly in its sights as it aims to pull in 25 percent to 30 percent of its revenue from software by 2006, company executives announced at its annual analyst day in Broomfield, Colo.

I believe Brocade's management stated in their last conference call that they wanted to increase their software revenues to over 13% of their total revenues by 2004. IMO storage resource management (SRM), virtualization, and data protection software are going to be the huge new growth components for this industry going forward.
