I see where this is going. Your position is:

1. we wage war on a nation
2. we capture some enemy soldiers
3. we destroy the government and army of that nation
4 we replace it with another government, whose leader we hand-picked, who is personally protected by a detachment of our soldiers, and whose new army is funded and trained by us.
5. that new leader is thankful to us (duh!)
6. therefore, we don't have to obey the Geneva Conventions, with our captured enemy soldiers, because the thankful new leader says it's OK
