The use of "punishment" to extract information from prisoners of war, is banned by the Geneva Convention. Explicitly, clearly.

That would be the case were Al-Qaeda to recognize that Geneva convention and other treaties related to "civilized" warfare (the ultimate oxymoron)...

But they are not lawful combatants, and are only entitled to the bare, essential humanitarian care and treatment.

And since they have not been taken from better conditions and sent to worse conditions, there are no punishments currently involved.

But since they are essentially criminals without right to trial, and because criminal incarceration permits punishments for non-cooperation, their treatment ultimately defaults to this level.

But I'll rely upon the Red Cross and common sense. IMO, they have no right to enjoy the rights and privileges that lawful combatants are entitled to.

Maybe Bin Laden needs to swear homage to the Geneva condition..

The most powerful reward we could dangle, would be freedom

Your facts from the beginning of your diatribe yesterday have all been wrong.

Your opinion as stated above that we should reward them with freedom is insulting to every person .... not American .... every person who perished on 9/11.

You seem to forget, they declared "war" on us.

Declare war, you better be ready for the recriminations of your declaration.

Your sympathy is misplaced as well as your statements of so called facts.
