They feel no threat from Iraq, their economies are in desperate shape, and they have a monopoly on Iraq trade because of the US/UK vacuum.

They feel (justifiably) they will lose bigtime, so US terror issues be damned.

How the french and germans and russians can support and condone terrorism is beyond me.

Well it is beyond me how many countries aid and abet terrorism themselves. However speaking of how other countries condone terrorism, US has looked other way in many cases for years (if not decades). While I am in favour of war with Iraq, there are others that need to be reined in first.... preferably diplomatically with a might of friendly nations.

I am sure if all democratic nations build up a new coalition under the leadership of United States, a lot can be accomplished, one rogue nation at a time. Very easy to build such coalitions and very easy to tackle one problem at a time if done in bite size rather than war size.

Grandiose visions will be spectacular if they pan out... will be utter failure if they don't and will incur the recriminations for other like minded countries as well.

Many other countries seem to have come to believe that the only way advance their influence is to build up power ... this by emulating US. This way in another decade, the security advantage US has over other nations will diminish drastically.

At that time, in retrospect people will rue the policies of prior and current administrations.
