French-Made Iraqi Jets Won't Fight, Says de Villepin (2003-03-07) -- French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin (who is a man) insisted today that the French-made Mirage F-1 jets, which constitute most of the Iraqi air force, will not fight. "War is always an acknowledgment of failure," Mr. de Villepin told the New York Times. "The French people are not failures. Therefore, the jets we made will not work in a war. They are strictly for sight seeing and target shooting. They are useless for combat."
