Blix Team Finds Anti-Smoking Gum

(2003-03-10) -- Chief United Nations weapons inspector Hans Blix announced today that Iraq possesses "an anti-smoking gum which Saddam Hussein intends to deploy."

"We have discovered a large cache of Al Nicoret anti-smoking gum in several depots in and around Baghdad," said Mr. Blix. "We have every reason to believe that Saddam Hussein intends to use it...probably on his own people."

Mr. Blix has come under criticism lately for failing to announce Iraq's remote-controlled drone aircraft program. Today's revelation was seen by insiders on the Security Council as an effort to regain credibility with his employer, and the world community.
