Had the cable guy (Time Warner) out yesterday to replace my set top box.
I asked him if they were ever going to get "Tivo". He said that sometime around June they will be offering a PVR, but not Tivo. I asked "why not Tivo", he said it was because it was "proprietary".
FWIW. IMHO, the MSO's should offer a range of services, and let the consumer decide the winner at the given price. Why the entertainment business continues to try to dictate to the consumer is beyond me. A grocery store only stocked what they thought you should eat wouldn't last very long.
These cable guys know they own the customer, and they will feed them whatever they want.
