The comparison is spurious. Prohibition aimed to proscribe drinking, which in moderation does no harm and indeed has been found generally to do good. Eliminating federal support of abortion aims to proscribe murder, which, even in moderation kills an innocent human being. Likely that fact largely accounts for why abortion rates have been dropping. We pro-lifers have begun fighting the war over abortion on the proper theater - and we are winning. You now have the law in your favor, but we are slowing but surely winning the minds and hearts of Americans. The choicers once told the lie that getting an abortion was just like having tonsils removed - no big deal. But that lie did not fly because we pro-lifers did not allow it to fly. Today, very few Americans who get abortions can do it without the knowledge, the deep down in the bone knowledge, that they are allowing the murders of her own flesh and blood. That sort of thing has GOT to have an effect on abortion eventually. Even if the law persists in allowing this atrocity against human nature, the mere fact that the world knows the truth is the Final Victory for the pro-life side of this issue. The truth will set you free, or it will utterly condemn you. Now America is being forced to choose here. There is freedom of choice for ya.
