The Devil Is In The Details

Like the heading at the top of the page:

10-minute GLOBEX® flash quotes
as of 03/07/03 03:21 pm (cst), for trade date 03/07/03

The next point is a little more subtle.

CONTRACT LAST NET CHGE
S&P 500 MAR03 811.80A -1000
E-MINI MAR03 828.75 +675

The last Globex quote as of 3/7/03 3:21 pm cst was 811.80 but the big contract does not trade on Globex after the 7:15 am cst, during RTH the big contract is pit traded only. So while the last Globex quote as of 3:21 pm cst for the large contract was 811.89 as shown it was for the last trade that morning. The E-Mini is traded on Globex during RTH and as indicated it was at 828.75 at the close. The big contract closed close to that.

You know those reporters never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

I can tell you from personal experience that it was not possible to buy a contract Friday afternoon for 811.
