You said....." No lorne, I represent, support and believe in the America I learned about as a child in school. That country was a place where free people chose representatives to carry out the objectives of the majority. The idea was the government was intended to be weak and the people being governed strong. Taxes were intended to be the bare minimum to support the necessary expenses of the public servants chosen to represent us. It was a country where people were free to believe what they wished without their thoughts and actions being controlled or manipulated by others. Above all it was a country where the highest office of government was refused the power to control the people without restraint. Perhaps it was only a dream by those idealists who paid the blood price you mentioned, but even so, I happen to believe it was a good dream. "..... So I ask you if a country like the USA has the means to help a country such as iraq gain some freedoms are they morally obligated/required to help such people? And how about the weapons of mass destruction, should a dictator like this be allowed to use these weapons? You said...." I bitch about taxes all the time but the point here really is we are FREE to bitch if we choose to...not so the people of a place like iraq. They bitch they die. Get real, they are a very small percentage of the population of the free world. And anyway think about those in the world who are not FREE as we are. You and the so called anti-war people are truly a selfish lot. And another thing I don't know anyone who is not anti-war, nobody wants war but thank goodness there are those who are aware of the price of freedom and are willing to fight to keep what we have ....such as it is....our system may not be the best but tell me Don what system is better?
