One is the air interface and the other is the core network. cdma, analog (NA), TDMA and IDEN(?) use ansi 41 network protocols. GSM and analog (Europe) use GSM-MAP network protocols. Handoff between an ansi-41 network and a GSM-MAP network is much different from cdma/analog handoff (with the same network core). I trust Eric will pipe in as he know this stuff much better than most folks. Trevor
