Hey, you and I can agree on something.

Glad to see that.. :0)

Rebuilding Afghanistan is going to be a long-term project. And as of yet, there's no feeling that putting money in there is an investment that will yield returns.

And we know that in the past, Pakistan hasn't been too keen on a strong Afghanistan..

And I'm not particularly keen on seeing Opium production "blossoming" either...

The bottom line is that Karzai has little power outside of the Afghan capital. That's why they call him the Mayor of Kabul.

And we can't make Afghanistan become something the local warlords don't want it to become.. So giving them money at this point is like giving money to a drug addict... Give them enough to stay alive and take care of the kids, but nothing more until the adults decide to quit BSing around and decide whether they want to be a country or not.

Karzai was a former employee of Union oil Co. so I would imagine he is a puppet.

I am not privy to hear the promises that were made to the Afghanis during their war with the Soviets but I have heard allegations to that affect. Had we helped in the rebuilding, we might have forestalled the implementation of the Taliban by Pakistan. It is my belief that the Northern Alliance was quite an uncivilized group and Pakistan was afraid of them. Pakistan helped install the Taliban as a means to recreate order in that territory.

The pipeline train would be a good name for what's happening there.
