I agree that we have made many a mistake over and over with short sighted actions. We cannot change the past we can only hope not to repeat it. Is it ethical today to support containing Saddam, which clearly has strengthened his hold over Iraq and all the other negative consequences for Iraqi's? Is it ethical knowing his track record and his evident power lust to continue as we have been until he gains enough mass that even greater sacrifices are needed to deal with him? BTW strange that you bring up ethics and conscience when talking about some one who clearly has does not have one.
