Other than a few fringe sorts, no one would defend Hitler. When the US entered that was it war in both in self-defense and in defense of allies. Quite a different situation than what we find today.

By the way, did Hitler's unilateral action have anything to do with dissolving the League of Nations?

I thought Hitler died 50 years ago. What does he have to do with this?
