On 1., my point was that the undoubted fact that Saddam is an evil leader who uses torture as state policy does not excuse or make it OK for us for us to do so, even just a little bit. Wrong is wrong.

On 2., it shows a difference - but this difference doesn't overcome the problem. Admitting you've done something evil does not make it better, and it doesn't make it go away - proclaiming your guilt does not compensate for the crime. That's my point, whether you go 'Doh' or not you don't seem to be grasping it...
