PT, Dubya needs 9 yes votes first. And then not a single veto from France, Russia, or China.

That's not very likely. The markets are seeing that and collapsing. Dubya's Iraqi adventure looks more foolish by the day. And it gets more expensive. Even his dad is speaking out against unilateral action. But Dubya's eyes have seen the glory. And not the guts that the hapless Iraqis will shed.

But then Dubya was always the one for cheap glory - the glory of sitting reserved in Texas instead of confronting Charlie - a consummate chickenhawk from Crawford. Clap for this compassionate conservative if you can with a clear conscience. Lacking in courage and class, Dubya is lost without his claque.

BUSH: CLAP ME OR NO EU SPEECH

Mar 8 2003

By Paul Gilfeather

GEORGE Bush pulled out of a speech to the European Parliament when MEPs wouldn't guarantee a standing ovation.

Senior White House officials said the President would only go to Strasbourg to talk about Iraq if he had a stage-managed welcome.

A source close to negotiations said last night: "President Bush agreed to a speech but insisted he get a standing ovation like at the State of the Union address.

"His people also insisted there were no protests, or heckling.
