At the time of Chamberlain, Hitler was not perceived to be "at the top of his game", either. That's the point: Neither you nor I know where Saddam stands with his weapons programs. We just don't know. And I don't want to know.

Unless you were there, you have no better insights than I do as to the world's perception of Hitler at that time. Read any history book.......the world was scared shitless. Most western nations had disarmed in the 20s and were struggling with a crushing depression in the 30s. The last thing they wanted to do was fight a resurgent Germany.

Your reconstruction of world history is down right fraudulent. There is absolutely no comparison between Germany of the 30s and Saddam of the new millenium. However, you want to believe it in order to justify an immoral war.

You disparage the good name of the GOP. You should be ashamed....oh wait, you probably got that whole argument from the GOP. Never mind........

>The liberals, aided by Chirac, want appeasement of Saddam. Just like Chamberlain got for Hitler. Your [usual] weak argument notwithstanding, the anology is a good fit.

No, the analogy would be a good fit if we said, "Hey! It's OK, you can have Kuwait, just as long as you don't take anything else or hurt us!"
