despite many diplomatic setbacks, I think the failure to secure Turkish approval is actually a good thing. First, it will save the US money (we don't have to pay the bribe) and second, we don't have to sell out the Kurds this time.

Many Kurds hate Turks with the kind of enmity steeped in blood and ripened by centuries of antagonism, and in the confusion of war some Kurd will surely seize the opportunity to toss a grenade into a truck full of Turkish troops. That's when Turkish and Kurdish units will begin slaughtering each other.

That's because the Turks have killed 50k Kurds in the last ten years and has been up on numerous human rts. violations. Curious democracy the Turks have got going. Its no wonder the EU is making it tough for them to join.

As for the Kurds, I think they may be the gypsies of the Middle East......forever homeless.
