So what does "competent and ethical" management have to do with potential of mkt, company? When he looked at Washington Post did he consider it to be the growth opportunity of the next millenium? Or sees candies or any of those? They are mostly staid, mature industries. And as far as his endorsement of management, I would say look to what I do not what I say. Why go into the Washington Post if it were so well managed? After all a well managed company would not need Buffett's expertise.
