Anytime this issue is brought up, the South starts to whine states' rights. You would think the South had won the war!

The southern states have a perfect right to put the "stars and bars" on their state flags.

Of course everyone else has a right to protest or even boycott the states that do it.

If I was a resident of a state that had a flag like that I would support a change, but even under the current legal regime, let alone under the actual principles of the constitution the states have a right to pick their own flags.
