The drama unfolded last Monday, when a dozen troops waved the white flag as British paratroopers tested mortars and artillery weapons to make sure they were working. The Iraqis found a way across the fortified border, which is sealed off with barbed-wire fencing, watchtowers and huge trenches. The stunned troops were forced to tell the Iraqis they weren't firing at them, and ordered them back to their home country, telling them it was too early to surrender. "The British guys on the front-line could not believe what was happening. They were on pre-war exercises when all of a sudden these Iraqis turned up out of nowhere, with their hands in the air, saying they wanted to surrender. "They had heard firing and thought it was the start of the war,'' a British Army source in Kuwait told the Mirror. ''The Paras are a tough, battle-hardened lot but were moved by the plight of the Iraqis. There was nothing they could do other than send them back. ''They were a motley bunch and you could barely describe them as soldiers – they were poorly equipped and didn't even have proper boots. Their physical condition was dreadful and they had obviously not had a square meal for ages. Some loonie lefties dislike Bush so much that they have no problem with tolerating the worst human rights abuses of people he goes against. Pretty sick, IMO.

What does that have to do with Taiwan??? why you tolerate such cruelty to women in Iraq and other Islamic countries... I don't. And let me tell you something, Mr North America - I have lived in some of those Islamic countries. As a woman. And your assumption that I am doing nothing at present to help improve the lives of the women in Islamic countries is as completely wrong as your assertion that Monte-Carlo is an "overcrowded slum". First of all, there is much less "cruelty" than you are led to believe. It is a different system, and some practices are quite unacceptable to me. (Obviously, if I am not living there any longer, it means I prefer the European way of life.) However, our preference of a different lifestyle is not a justification to forcibly change theirs, killing the same civilian women in thousands in the process. Secondly, Iraq is actually one of the BETTER places for a woman, not the worst. You may have noticed that women in Iraq are not covered up from head to toe, and they enjoy freedoms unheard of by their sisters in Saudi Arabia and some other US allies. most incredible!!! The only "incredible" aspect of this exchange is that a North American couch potato who has been wrong on every single issue he tried to confront me with (incl. calling Monte-Carlo a "slum"), who was recently reduced to slander ("zonder is a liar") in a pathetic attempt to discredit yours truly, dares question my sympathy to women I have lived with side to side for years in a part of the world he has never been in. Unreal.
