Mike,

Its interesting that the liberals among us oppose a moral case for war and in effect support a dictator.

To make everything safe for the market, here is what Bush should do:

1) Meet with Saddam
2) Declare victory and get Saddam to agree
3) drop sanctions
4) drop the no-fly zones
5) take on all of Saddam's oil contracts (split with UK)
6) provide US troops and contractors to help him rebuild
7) re-arm him
8) sick him on anyone we like (eg the Saudi's and Syrians)

Our cost - Kuwait, a few Kurds, a few Shia's - but this is realpolitik - self-interest first. To hell with morals.

Full support for oil contracts and guaranteed price incentives! No war for oil!
