That is what I mean, interesting. If they cannot be sure about absolute control for something that is essential for them, they feel unsafe.

Think of countries like Germany and Japan who are completely dependent on imported oil

They are also somewhat dependent on the oil hungry US buying:

Hondas,
Accuras,
Toyotas,
Lexuses,
Mazdas,
Volkswagons,
BMWs,
Porsches,
Mercedes, and
Chryslers.
