1. What did April Glaspie tell Saddam? Who was the decision maker, and what did he or she decide?

2. What is the significance of your argument that we are "holier than thou?"

3. What evidence do you have that the US looked the other way about Iraq's nuclear program?

4. Did we tell the Shia that we would support them militarily if they rebelled against Saddam?

5. Ditto for the Kurds.

This videotape of April Glaspie's testimony to the House of Representatives vis-a-vis the events you describe is rather interesting. Ms. Glaspie is wearing no makeup, no jewelry, her hair is not styled, she appears to be wearing a sweatshirt, her voice is whiny, and her affect is very flat. In short, in the context of her situation (testimony to the House of Representatives) she appears to be suffering from some kind of affective disorder, perhaps depression. Which causes me to wonder about her suitability for her post to begin with.
