The markets work on fundamentals and psychology. Clearly they don't like Bush very much.

As for Greenspan trying to prick the bubble but getting no help, that's absurd too. Most Republicans around here blame Greenspan for killing the golden goose with his rate hikes.

Clinton's SEC chairman wanted to expense options, to prevent accounting firms from auditing and consulting for the same firms. The Republicans in congress stopped him.

Greenspan met weekly, worked closely, and well with Rubin.

It's this administration that has problems staying on the same page with Greenspan and that is reportedly furious with him.
