Dean and Gephardt cannot beat Bush unless he's very weakened. Gephardt might have a chance if he weren't so boring and old hat. Dean is an exciting candidate in some ways but no matter what happens in Iraq the public will want a President with some military toughness, and someone who can take some of the pro-military vote away from Bush, which Kerry can.

Kerry is the only one who can stand toe-to-toe with Bush and beat him. Even if he has to use a ton of his own money. With a southern running mate to take at least one major southern state away from Bushies.

I believe Kerry will have the nomination in hand well before the convention, and since Dems wants a winner this time support for the others will gradually fall off, though Dean and Gephardt may make a race of it early.

I wasn't very familiar with Dean until I saw him on one of the Sunday news interview programs. I was quite impressed. Very direct and knowledgeable. He took each question straight on and immediately responded with a well considered answer.

He seems to have a very good grasp on the issues.
