I think you took a racist joke way too seriously. That was on the level of Shaq's comment about Yao Ming.

It'll take too long to explain in a post. Suffice to say that the flag represents something Southerns take great pride in, and it has little if anything to do with slavery (except the fact that most Southerners would rather gloss over that aspect of their heritage).

What I can point out is how the Politically Correct thought police would rather define the flag in their own way than take into account the viewpoint of those who want to keep the flag. I'm not a fan of the deep South, but I'm less of a fan of these Thought Police.
