The one thing we know is that we cannot accurately predict when oil, or solar, or hydro-electric power will be exhausted. So we plug along the best we can, making reasonable plans for the future but knowing what we don't know.

We know that wafers will now be shrunk down to .03mu's ...that would hardly of been dreamed of 2 decades ago.

and I do think that we have a fair idea of how long solar and hydro energy sources will be sustained . This logic is escaping me there <G>

That they have an eye on the future energy sources and a new market in them , while maintaining some control over the pricing and stability of the current dominate energy source of the oil-markets . They not just "muddling " along just guessing at things , they do have a fair idea of the future now, and can forsee the time when new modes of consumption and conservation will start to evolve in society . The rapidity of this introduction and acceptance will have a direct impact on the length of time in which the present world oil reserves will last .

So we plug along the best we can, making reasonable plans for the future but knowing what we don't know

we'll have to do just a little better than that at transitioning models...and new technologies, and they are.
