right - big ifs but if it goes that way, Bush can survive IF the economy improves. But only then. Its a real longshot.

If these aims are reached then there would remain no lasting damage of the international standing of the USA. Any major setbacks, however, would spell trouble, both within the USA and internationally.

It will definitely be interesting.. Especially since the greatest opponents to ousting Saddam consist of "Old Europe" and Russia.. One really has to wonder if it's just selfish economic interests that has them backing the dark horse in this race, or is there something else that is being hidden..

Something that will only be revealed when the US "does the deed" and strip-searches the country to see just what Saddam REALLY had hidden..

And when that "stuff" is discovered, I have a feeling we'll be "twisting the knife" in the backs of France, Germany, and Russia, for some time to come... And US control over the UN agenda will grow even stronger.

I'm a big advocate of "tip of the iceberg" thinking. What we see is generally just that, especially when it comes to tyrants who possess near complete control over the media in a society.
