France had the best idea, but it was shot down too quickly.
a way to get us out of this partisan, lobbyist driven, pork barrel vortex

Set a reasonable deadline, say 3 months, tell the inspectors to check the pits where old bombs were buried and any buildings they find. If they find a tank of sarin or a nuke then Saddam gets bombed with full worldwide support and resolutions. I bet France even brings it's carrier back. If they don't find anything then drop a couple hundred blue helmeted inspectors on the ground to stay for 50 years and examine new construction and end the sanctions, the no fly zones, and let the region get back to peace. About 5 minutes later the Saudis and Kuwaitis will tell the Americans to leave and take their MREs with them. We get back to peace, they get back to peace.
