>The resolution (687), among other things, required Iraq to rid itself permanently and unconditionally of all nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons capabilities and allow inspectors full access to verify and monitor compliance. Nowhere in the resolution does it say anything about the inspectors riding around Iraq looking for undisclosed weapons; as it turns out, one of the ways you do this is by sampling locations which might be used for weapons development and storage for signs of banned materials.

Right, but that doesn't mean that the inspectors aren't looking for banned weapons. They are. There just isn't a resolution for it.

>One need only consider the absurdity of a hundred or so people riding around Iraq looking for items that can be easily buried under the sand. It is ridiculous that they're even trying it, if the truth be known.

Well, it would be if they were doing so on their own- it's not so absurd, given the fact that they're at least supposed to be supplied with intelligence by the CIA, and I'm sure the Mossad's got some info as well.
