<<I wonder what Europeans have to say about what you state as unfettered support for SH and their business relationship with him and Iraq. >>

It's the French and Germans. The german economy is in a shambles. Both the germans and france want to continue to make lots of money from their patron saddam.

<<I have not heard any details of this, and would certainly (a) expect that the aggressive and perhaps arguably more politically knowledgable populous would pursue as unjust such actions by their gov't, and (b) hope that the media of the US and the rest could bring such a facet to light. >>

The details are available and it's taken a while but the information is getting into mainstream media outlets.

Randy, how's this for support? Seems GST's Chinese buddies and the peace-loving French have been selling Saddam rocket propellents in violation of UN prohibitions. Read the whole article - NYT is free.

France, China and Syria all have a common reason for keeping American and British troops out of Iraq: the three nations may not want the world to discover that their nationals have been illicitly supplying Saddam Hussein with materials used in building long-range surface-to-surface missiles.
